It’s going to be a big day for Tantec Electronics Ltd. on Aug. 30, as the staff celebrates 25 years of operating in the community.

“We started as a Radio Shack, which then turned into a Source dealer,” recalled owner Jim Tangjerd.

Eventually, Tantec was launched and it’s been a solid local businesses success story ever since.

Tantec came into existence on Sept. 1, 1998.

This milestone anniversary also coincides with the re-opening of 51 Avenue after the completion of the town’s redevelopment project for the street.

The construction project has meant occasional road closures over the last year, although Tantec remained open to customers throughout the process.

Meanwhile, it’s a new chapter and Tangjerd also credits his dedicated staff as being a big part of what sets the business apart.

“They are knowledgeable in electronics, and really know what they are doing.”

Visitors can drop by on Aug. 30, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for coffee and treats and to check out a number of special sales.
