Every year, well deserving practitioners are recognized for their exemplary service in emergency medical services.

Staff from Guardian Ambulance in Ponoka were among the 39 practitioners who received the Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medals and bars on recently. Also, 12 practitioners were recognized for their achievements with the Alberta College of Paramedics and two practitioners were recognized with a Paramedic Pay It Forward Award.

Presenting the awards was Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, the Honourable Lois E. Mitchell who presented the Alberta Paramedic Guard of Honour and all of the EMS Exemplary Service Medal (ESM) recipients.

Her Honour addressed the audience by recognizing paramedics in Alberta for their dedication and hard work in the field.

Those recipients were Darryl Dirsten and Jeff Ellison both of whom have been with Guardian for many years now. The award is presented to those individuals who have been in emergency services for the last 20 years and Dirsten and Ellison have also received 10 year medals.
