A drive-in graduation ceremony for the three graduates from Mamawi Atosketan Native School took place on June 3, 2021. This year’s grad class included Amelia Louis, Kailey Okeymow and Ivory Threefingers, with Okeymow being the valedictorian.

Under the current COVID-19 restrictions, families had to remain in their vehicles as the three graduates drove up in a limousine and then walked the sidewalk in front of the school. All three graduates earned scholarships of up to $40,000 at Lacombe’s Burman University as well as some smaller scholarships.

Mamawi Atosketan is a kindergarten to Grade 12, private, tuition-free school that is open to all First Nations students. Currently there are about 225 students that attend Mamawi.
