An election is underway for the Town of Ponoka.
At the end of nomination day, Sept. 18 there were two running for the town’s top political seat and 12 running for a position on council.
The unofficial list showed that Rick Bonnett will be racing against former Mayor Larry Henkelman for the mayoral seat while there is a mix of incumbents and new candidates for town council.
Incumbents for town council are Sandra Lyon, Carla Prediger, Teri Underhill and Marc Yaworski. Councillors Tim Falkiner and Loanna Gulka did not enter their names for another term.
As for the new candidates the list comprises a group of individuals who have let their name stand for council. Those candidates are Ted Dillon, Kevin Ferguson, Edwin Geuder, Curtis Jacobson, Dave McPherson, Clayton Nelson, Greg Nelson (the two are not related) and Adria Perepelitza.
Ponoka News will profile the candidates who have not yet been featured. In an effort of full transparency, candidate Greg Nelson declined to have a photo and profile interview conducted by Ponoka News.
