In the early morning hours of Jan. 24 emergency crews were called to the scene of a collision on Highway 42 near Innisfail.
Police say a 19-year-old Ponoka woman died as a result of the collision close to the intersection with Secondary Highway 816.
A motorist reported he had been driving eastbound on Highway 42 and saw a vehicle severely damaged in the ditch and called 911.
The vehicle had been eastbound on Highway 42 when it exited the highway and rolled striking a number of trees, say police.
The Red Deer County Fire Department and Red Deer EMS attended where the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
