The Town of Ponoka will be hosting a fall festival in downtown Ponoka on Friday, Sept. 22, to celebrate the completion of the 51 Avenue redevelopment project.

The festival, which will run from 4 to 10 p.m. on 51 Avenue between 50 Street and 51 Street, will feature live music and various local food vendors.

Festival goers will be able to sample of the cuisine available at local restaurants with the event’s “taste of Ponoka” component.

Town of Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson said the town is excited to host the event to celebrate the completion of the project and bring the community together.

“We are especially excited to showcase some of our community’s many excellent restaurants during the event,” said Ferguson.

“The redevelopment of 51 Avenue has been a critical capital project that will improve the quality of life for the whole community for many years to come.”

Town chief administrative officer Sandra Lund said the event will enable the town to showcase the improvements along the roadway.

“The many improvements that were completed on 51 Avenue will help promote economic development in our community and attract new businesses, shoppers and visitors to Ponoka,” said Lund.

Admission to the festival is free. Tickets for the “Taste of Ponoka” part of the event will go on sale on Sept. 1, at the Ponoka Aquaplex and the Ponoka Arena Complex.
