Donald Clifford Stickney, of Red Deer, AB, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2017 at the age of 91.

Don was born December 30, 1925, to Mary and Clifford Stickney, on their farm west of Ponoka, AB. Don farmed there for a few years before moving to Ponoka, where he worked at International Harvester, and also with Ponoka Town Police. In 1960, he obtained his private pilots licence, eventually having his own plane. Don spent most of his working years with Investors Group, with a break in the 1960's when he located a site on Great Bear Lake, NWT, then, with partners, built Great Bear Trophy Lodge, a fly-in fishing lodge, which he managed. He returned to Investors Group in 1975, in Calgary, retiring there in 1997. Don enjoyed big game hunting, salmon fishing in B.C., and fishing in the arctic.

Over the years, he and Anne enjoyed many RV trips to the Yukon and Alaska, and some winters in Arizona.

Don will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Anne, children Gary (Donna), Janet (Jock) Mackenzie, Eleanor Bechthold; stepdaughter Joanne (Don) Ehrmantraut; grandchildren Jeremy, Heather, Jennie, Brett; step grandchildren Derrick, Andrea; great grandchildren Avery, Emma, Emily; step-great grandchildren Payton and Brynn, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents, sisters Hazel and Arline, brother Kenneth, and first wife, Rita Fink, the mother of his children.

Very special thanks to West Park Lodge for the wonderful care and love Don received while living there.
