GREEN

Mrs. Dorothy E. Green (nee Beisiegel), beloved sister, mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully in Ponoka Hospital on August 31, 2010 at the age 83 years after a short illness.

She was born November 25, 1926 at Patricia, AB, sixth child of ten to Ervin and Minnie Beisiegel, predeceased by her parents and siblings Mabel Ewen, Ray, Gladys Murphy, Elmer, Alice Loewen and Ken. Surviving siblings are Myrtle Ulrichsen (Brooks), Ralph (Victoria), Gloria (St. Albert). Dorothy was also predeceased by her loving husband James A. in 2003.

Schooled in Patricia, Rainier, and Brooks, Dorothy married Jim Green of Duchess in 1948, initially living in the area farming, during Jim's enlisted Air Force years in Edmonton and Ottawa and then back to the Duchess area Green farm in 1962. The family moved into Brooks in 1967 where Dorothy spent more child-loving years day-care sitting for her special charges who knew her as "Auntie Dot", while still raising her own. In 1975 the shrinking family moved to Rosemary where Jim and Dorothy owned and operated Green's Store until 1980 when they moved to Bentley to begin retirement years. BC beckoned in 1990 where the empty-nesters loved and enjoyed their home at Celista on beautiful Shuswap Lake. Again Dorothy enjoyed gardening, flowers, cherries and blackberries, chickens, her beautiful soul-stirring lake view, and always her family and friends visiting.

Dorothy moved to Ponoka in 2006 closer to family and enjoyed her new home and community and Alberta again. She is survived by her six children: Beverly (Terry) Croft of Gull Lake, Brenda (Bill) White of Ponoka, Jim Jr. of Calgary, Susan Wood of Victoria, Wendy (Doug) O'Brien of Victoria, Irene (Mike) MacAulay of Bellingham, WA; and ten grandchildren, Roman Forczek, Jason, Amanda, Jodi, Maomi, Sara, Kane, Torin, Louzanna, Taitum, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to be held Thursday, September 9th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks. Interment following at Brooks Cemetery.

If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Gideons Bible Society.
