Esmé Ann Lea (Westling)

Esmé Ann Lea (Westling) passed away on March11, 2010 in Red Deer. Esmé was born in Red Deer on February 25 and lived with parents Oscar and Matilda Westling and her sister Margot on the farm across from Saron Lutheran Church. Esmé attended the University of Alberta and began teaching school in Satinwood, Alberta. Esmé married Dennis Lea in 1961 and together they raised their family in the Clive area where they farmed until they retired in 2004 and moved to English Estates in Lacombe. Esmé touched so many lives through teaching, her work in the community, membership in the Chatelaine Club and especially as a member of Saron Lutheran Church playing the organ, directing the choir and teaching Sunday School. Her love of life was evident in all she did with her family and friends. To be invited to Esmés’ for a meal was always an occasion to remember. She would never miss a special event for family or friend no matter what it took to get there. There was lots of dancing, camping and travel; she would follow Dennis anywhere as long as there was a store nearby. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dennis; by her children: Deborah (Keith) Sutley, Daniel (Linda) Lea, Luanne (Edward) Buelow and Thomas (AnnaMarie) Lea; her thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Esmé’s family and friends will celebrate her life at the Lacombe Memorial Centre at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17th. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saron Lutheran Church or to a charity of your choice.
