MORROW, Evelyn

Evelyn Lorraine Gee (Morrow) was born July 31st, 1939 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. She was born to Stephen and Helen Gee, the third of three girls and two boys.

As a young girl, Evelyn was curious and said to be "Full of the dickens!" Evelyn was a lover of all animals, especially horses; and athletics, especially baseball.

Evelyn met Marvin Morrow in 1954 at a school dance and the rest is history; Evelyn and Marv were married on May 2, 1958. Two years later, in the Grand Prairie Hospital, Joseph Sheldon Morrow was born on October 20th, 1960. The family of three moved to Ponoka in November of 1962, and on January 1st, 1963, Norman Gerald Morrow made them a family of four.

Evelyn enjoyed a short but fulfilling career. She worked at AGT Telephone Company as an operator. She was a medical record clerk at Alberta Hospital Ponoka once the boys were born, and finally spent some time as an insurance saleswoman at Alberta Hail and Crop until she retired. Evelyn and Marvin were the owners of Ponoka Sheet Metal for over 40 years, but Evelyn spent her time as a retired woman caring for her children and grandsons. On May 9th, 2006, Marvin passed away suddenly and Evelyn missed him dearly every day. She spent the rest of her life enjoying the memories she had made with Marvin. Evelyn enjoyed trips to go shopping, reading, playing lots of tile rummy, and a good, long game of hearts!

Evelyn passed away July 4th, 2017 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her boys Joe (Betty) of Lloydminster and Norm (Laurie) of Ponoka; her five grandchildren Sam (Cam), Derek, Brett, Lance (Hannah) and Zachary (Merel); her brothers William (Micheline) Gee and Mickey Gee; her sisters Elaine Stubenvoll and Jeannette (Jack) Van Den Broek; her brother-in-law Ross Sweet and her sister-in-law Sharon (Brian) Boist; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Stephen and Helen Gee; her husband Marvin; her mother-in-law Lillian Morrow; her sister-in-law Helen (Glen) Sweet; her nephew Raymond Stubenvoll; and Jean Sweet, Louie Stubenvoll and Leo Pushak.

A Time of Remembrance was held on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Ponoka Funeral Home. Donations in Evelyn's name are gratefully accepted to the Ponoka and District Health Foundation. To express condolences to Evelyn's family, please visit www.womboldfuneralhomes.com
