George was born in Wetaskiwin on Dec 12, 1941 to Edna and Henry Stewart of the Dakota District. He was the first born followed by sister Carol (Fleck) and brothers Wayne and Dale. He grew up farming with his parents while going to the Fertile Forest School. Farming would remain his lifelong work and passion.

George married Donna Lynn Kangas on Oct 23, 1965 and for 34 years they farmed and raised their family in the Ferry Bank District. Together they had 3 children; Cindy (Bonnett), Mark and Michael. Throughout his life George enjoyed many fishing, skiing, hunting and horseback riding trips with family and friends. George was very involved in sports and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed baseball, playing hockey and coaching hockey. While farming, George also worked at Vold Jones Vold Auctions, he was there for over 50 years, he was also a board member with Ponoka Co-op Oils for over 35 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and was actively involved with the Fish & Game Association. George also loved music and dancing. While attending a dance social in 2001 George met Lorraine Sim. Over the past 15 years they have danced, golfed and travelled together while continuing to farm with their children and enjoy time with their grandchildren. George enjoyed socializing while playing cards and took his position of president for the Ponoka Drop In Centre very seriously.

He will be lovingly remembered by: Daughter Cindy (Rick) Bonnett, grandchildren Paige (Clay) & Brooke; Son Mark (Tina) Stewart, grandchildren Jenalee, Owen & Erik; Son Michael (L’Angelle) Stewart; Donna Stewart; daughter Chele (Dale) Taylor, grandchildren Meghan (Ryan) Dwernichuk & Ashleigh Taylor and great grandchild Sophia Dwernichuk; Sister Carol (Henry) Fleck; Sister-in-law Fay Stewart.

Partner Lorraine Sim and family; Leslie Sim, Caleb & Jessy Kaiser; Darwin (Esther) Sim, Hannah, Abby & Brady; Derek (Carmen) Sim Ryan, Victoria & Colin; Laurel Sim (Sascha Bouzaara); Mike (Samantha) Yadlos, Johnathan & Chloe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, East & West country family and friends.


George was predeceased by brothers Wayne & Dale and parents Edna & Henry Stewart.
