It is with deep sadness that we

announce the passing of Gerald

Ernest Dahms. Surrounded by his

family, Gerald passed away on July

25, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Born on March 19, 1930 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Gerald spent his first 13 years on the farm and then moved to the Ponoka area. After high school graduation, Gerald received a

Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree

from the University of Alberta. While attending the U of A, he won the Canadian Collegiate title in bantam-weight boxing, as well as a spot in the pre-Olympic Diamond Belt

competition in Vancouver in 1948. Gerald was a teacher for 37 years, and enjoyed travelling, golf, photography,

playing cards, and conversing on many subjects.

Gerald is lovingly remembered by his wife and partner of 62+ years, Margaret Ellen Rodney; his children,

Michael (Cindy) Dahms, Janice Dahms, and Ted Dahms;

grandchildren Jessica (Greg) Aimer, and Danny Dahms; great grandson Blake Aimer; his brother Fred Dahms; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald is predeceased by his parents Ernest and Josephine Dahms, and sisters Bertha Bamber and Joan Glass

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Ponoka Legion. In lieu of flowers,

memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
