Mary Elizabeth Jones
On November 15, 2010 Mrs. Mary Jones of Ponoka passed away at the age of 95 years. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Karen Kangas of Beaumont; son Rick (Marge) of Barrhead; grandchildren Ryan Kangas (Erin), Rachel Darnley (David), Sandra Holowaychuk (Mark) and Kelsey McCracken (Brent); great-grandchildren Camryn, Holden and Jacob Kangas, Cole and Breann Darnley and Kelton and Payton Holowaychuk; brother-in-law Shorty (Jean) Jones; sister-in-law Yvonne Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Stan; parents Donald and Amy Gillies; brothers Douglas and John Gillies; sisters-in-law Olwen (Jones) Schmidt, Isabel Jones and Laurine (Jones) Shantz; and brothers-in-law Dave Jones, Allan Shantz and Bill Jones. A Funeral Service was held at the Ponoka Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on November 22nd with Reverend Dr. Doreen Scott officiating. Cremation has taken place and Mary’s ashes will be interred at a later date at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Edmonton. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Ponoka Wheelchair Van Society or Ponoka Home Care. The family would like to thank Dr. Halse, Dr. Chan and the nursing staff at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre; Home Care in Ponoka and Lacombe; the staff at Reid Manor; the wonderful neighbors and friends; St. Mary’s A.C.W.; and finally the staff at Ponoka Funeral Home.
