William “Bill” Arthur Bowie

1939 to 2010


It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, dad, granddad, brother, uncle and friend William “Bill” Bowie on April 25th, 2010 at the age of 70 years. Bill was born in Lacombe on October 25th, 1939. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 50 years, Marie; his children Danny (Sandy), Kim (Allan) Baile and Luke (Carley); and 7 grandchildren – Adam (Leah), Darcy, Janene, Lorne, Brody, Dyson and Lexa. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Katherine Bragg. Bill will also be remembered by his siblings Charlie (Jane), Jack (Judy), Jean Miller and Rich (Heather); as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Edith and his father-in-law Angus Bragg. While living on the family farm, Bill was a dairy farmer and wood craftsman. Bill lived a full life and he had many hobbies. He enjoyed playing cards, demolition derbies, sitting at the campfire, woodworking, reading, quading and horse racing. In Bill’s early years he curled and played fastball. Bill was an active member of the Burns Club and the Masonic Lodge. Bill’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be long remembered for his sense of humour and his willingness to lend a hand. A celebration of Bill’s life was held on Thursday, April 29th at thePonoka United Church with the Interment following at the Forest Home Cemetery. Donations in Bill’s name may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
