Why kill hospital chaplins?

Reader calls on province to explain why chaplains are being cut at hospitals

Dear Editor:

To Sarah Hoffman, Minister of Health

It has come to my attention that you, the government, has decided that there is not need for chaplains at Alberta hospitals. I have no information telling me that this is a ‘cost issue,’ nor do I have any other explanation for this action.

Hospitals are places of great stress on most occasions and many patients have expressed a desire for the comfort that a chaplain can provide.

I believe that a chaplain at our hospitals is one service that ranks with the person who supplies physical healing to the patient.

Please advise me why this decision was made. Also, advise why this issue was not made known to the taxpayers.

Yours Truly
