The four nights of concerts on the mainstage at the Ponoka Stampede 2023 are sure to have boots tapping and crowds singing along.
On June 28, the first entertainer to hit the stage is Corb Lund. This Alberta born Canadian Country artist from Taber has released 11 albums, three of which are certified gold. His most recent album Songs My Friends Wrote released April 29, 2022. Following his performance at the Ponoka Stampede Lund will make his way to the United States to join The Dead South on the road in July on their US tour. Known for popular songs on country radio including The Truck Got Stuck, Lund has previously described his music as scruffy, dissident, subversive and non-toxic country.
June 29 Canadian Country music group The Washboard Union will take the stage. Their fourth studio Album Everbound features the trios highest Canadian charting song to date, Country Thunder. This popular group are nine-time Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) winners including three-time Group of the year winners and a Juno for Breakthrough Group of the Year. Their genuine friendship, hard work and stellar harmonies have led them to become one of Canada’s most loved and successful country bands.
June 30, Meghan Patrick will take the mic on the mainstage. The back-to-back CCMA Female Artist of the Year debuted her first solo album, Grace & Grit in 2016 and since then has not only pulled in award after award but has been making country radio hits including Country Music Made Me Do It and The Bad Guy. Patrick says she wants to be vulnerable and open with fans through her music. On her website she states, “I want to make music that has real longevity, and the only way to do that is to peel back the layers and be unapologetically yourself.”
Saturday July 1, to round out Canada Day and the last night of Ponoka Stampede concerts, Garrett Gregory will headline the big stage. Gregory recently released his debut self-titled album May 27, 2023. Born in Hanna, Alta., Gregory grew up in small town life and has been competing in singing competitions across Canada since he was eight-years-old.
