The Crestomere Cougars Basketball ‘A’ boys’ team has had an exciting year thus far. At this point in the season they have gone undefeated in league play with a record of 11-0. The CWAJHAA play downs were held on Feb. 26 and 27 at Crestomere School. There was some excellent basketball played by Alix, Bluffton, Clive, Crestomere, Eckville, and Ponoka Christian teams. The Cougars were matched against Bluffton in the final for the banner. It was a very intense game as Bluffton was there to win. At half-time, Bluffton was ahead by eight points but the Cougars returned with more determination and passion. At one point, Crestomere had a lead of 10 points. They got into some foul trouble losing two players but held on to win 49-45. The boys and coaches have to be commended for the caliber of play and the devotion they have shown to the game. There was some excellent basketball played by all the teams. Crestomere, Bluffton and Alix will be playing again at CWAJHAA on March 7 and 8 in Ponoka. Good luck to all players.
