Ponoka Storm’s U18 girls heading to provincials

Last weekend was busy with soccer qualifiers being played on all the soccer pitches in Ponoka

Ponoka Storm’s U18 girls are heading to soccer provincials.

Set for July 7 to 9 in Camrose, the girls are the only team who claimed a provincials spot after Ponoka played host to the Central Alberta Soccer Association (CASA) qualifiers last weekend.

Qualifiers was held in Ponoka last weekend with games being played on every soccer pitch available in Ponoka. About 75 games were played over the weekend with teams from around central Alberta competing.

Tess Pearman of the U18 girls earned the top goal scorer award for CASA at 16 goals, while Cam Hinton of the U12 boys earned top scorer for U12 boys in CASA at 28 goals.
