Bashaw Agricultural Show Committee has announced that it is continuing the long-lasting and well-established tradition of encouraging and preparing young generations to get involved in all aspects of “multi-faceted business of agriculture” with this year’s “Future of Agriculture” event.
A press release from the committee said, the four-day activity in Bashaw, “2008 Canadian Junior ‘All Breeds’ Heifer Show” between August 13 and 16, would feature a number of high profile competitions running concurrently and be open to all willing participants from Western Canada.
Among others, the events will include Western Canadian Team Judging Finals, National Young Cattleman Competition, and UFA Youth Supreme Quest.
“For over 30 years, the Bashaw Agricultural Show Committee has been a leader in the development of unique and innovative agricultural youth programming that encourages the leadership, business, marketing, and communication skills necessary for young people to see success in agriculture,” said the press release.
Jackie Northey, a member of the organizing committee said “We are really excited to be returning to Bashaw, the place that it all started, to continue offering our unique leadership programming.”
“These programs were such an integral part of my youth,” said junior alum Jamie-Rae Pittman. “I, like many other young livestock enthusiasts, was drawn to them because they promoted a more essential, current and practical skill set than any other junior livestock program offered.”
