So far, the members of the Crestomere 4-H Multiclub have been participating in many activities, including a Christmas party on Dec. 17, at which they went skating and did a Chinese gift exchange.
On Feb. 4, the club held its annual public speaking competition. The number of members who competed were 33 and there was one team of presenters. Congratulations to all the members for their wonderful speeches and presentations. The winners:

Aside from additional events, the members of the club have been busy with their individual projects. At the meeting held in December, the members in the Outdoor Living project learned how to properly construct a birdhouse and also how to correctly start a fire. The members in this project have been learning numerous survival skills.
Recently, the Cleavers in the club gathered food items for the Ponoka Food Bank. With the help of the older members, the Cleavers gathered over 182 pounds of non-perishable necessities. They have also been learning outdoor skills, as they joined the Outdoor Living group on their last outing.
The members in the woodworking project have been rather busy with their activities as well. They are currently working on building toolboxes, and will soon begin to work on their own custom projects. The woodworkers in the club have been buried with work, and as it grows closer to the club’s achievement day, it doesn’t seem that their workload will lighten.
The last few meetings have been quite eventful for the chefs in the club as well. For an exciting Christmas project, they learned how to make gingerbread houses from scratch.
Previous meetings proved to be exciting for the club’s engineers. At the December meeting, the members of the Small Engines project watched several videos of motor explosions. Along with this, they were taught how to prevent such events from occurring. At the most recent meeting, they began to reconstruct the motors of their lawn mowers, which they will be exhibiting at the club’s achievement day.
The members in the Canine project have also been involved with several club activities. Recently, they practiced leading their dogs over jumps for the very first time. Also, they worked on being able to control their lively canine companions. The training sessions for the Canine members and their dogs have been greatly effective.
The Sheep members have been incredibly busy for the last few meetings. At the most recent project meeting, they worked on their record books, and they each completed a sheep quiz to test their knowledge. The test revealed in what areas the members’ knowledge was lacking. Afterwards, the Sheep members also participated in a small winter craft. They felted bars of soap, many of which were given away as thoughtful Christmas gifts.
Upcoming events that many of the members will participate in include the Red Deer Rebels 4-H night of Feb. 11 and the 4-H Regional Fun Day on Feb. 18.
