Don Laing Trailers supports Ag Event Centre

Don Laing Trailers stepped up to the plate with an investment of $125,000 toward the construction of the new Ag-Event Centre. “The centre will strengthen our social fabric, showcase our agricultural heritage, and have a major economic spin-off in our community,” said Inger Laing, owner and operator of Don Laing Trailers. Don Laing Trailers joins Encana and Mixcor as the major donors to the project. “In addition to our support for the project and the community, our contribution also serves as a legacy to my husband Don, who passed away in August of ’09. Don would have wanted to support this project so we are making the donation in memory of him.” As of January, the Ponoka Agriculture Event Centre Society (PAECS) had been successful obtaining more than $7.6 million in grants, pledges and sponsorships for the project. “It is so encouraging to have a local business like Don Laing Trailers support our project. We are grateful for the contribution and it clearly illustrates the Laing family’s commitment to our project, the community and the agricultural industry,” said Charlie Cutforth, president of PAECS. The Ag-Event Centre is under construction on Highway 2A south of the Ponoka Legion.
