Inshore Dev. supports ag centre

Submitted

Norval Horner of Inshore Developments has joined a number of businesses and individuals in financially supporting Ponoka’s newest and largest community project.

Horner’s enthusiasm for the Ponoka Ag Event Centre project was evident in a handwritten letter that accompanied a cheque in the amount of $10,000. The letter read:

“I was impressed with the vision and ambition that the Ag Centre represents. It will give Ponoka a fine venue for all kinds of events and recreational pursuits.

“Our little company has supported a number of worthy causes but we were looking for something more local and connected to the county. This looked to fill that bill and is a project that certainly deserves support.

“I am also confident that the money is being carefully spent. I may be able to do a little additional fundraising as well.”

“It is so encouraging to have a local business like Inshore Developments support our project with an investment of $10,000 in the Centre,” said Charlie Cutforth, president of the Ponoka Agricultural Events Centre Society. “The contribution means a great deal to us. It signifies the importance of the initiative and the impact it will have on our community.”

As of February, the society has been successful in obtaining $7,674,000 in grants, pledges and sponsorships toward the project.

Through the Building on the Legacy Fundraising Campaign, it is hoped that other corporate and local partners will come forward with donations to complete essential capital elements of the facility, such as stabling, site completion, specialized equipment and the completion of the building’s second level.

“PAECS understands the importance of community partnerships and has built recognition protocols into its campaign. We look forward to talking to all interested businesses and individuals about their role and participation in this initiative,” said Cutforth.
