Be Well Fitness and Nutrition, a group fitness facility in Ponoka, is changing the ways people view health and fitness.

Owned by Christy Varty and Christina Wiancko, the facility opened Aug. 2 and has two components to it. One side focuses on fitness, while the other is the storefront and nutrition focus where they sell supplements, water bottles, clothing, etc.

The fitness classes are a combination of high intensity training and strength workouts.

“We give every age, background, ability level the same opportunity to lead a healthier lifestyle,” said Varty.

The group fitness classes are coach-led and ready for you, with a warm-up, demonstration and cool down all included.

“You have a coach on the mat at all times with you.”

Their nutrition side offer nutrition coaching and it’s all about listening to your body and becoming more in tune to yourself.

“It’s building healthy habits, healing your body and getting away from the diet culture we deal with every day,” said Varty.

Another big component to Be Well Fitness and Nutrition is goal setting.

Vardy said she believes it’s important to have ambitions and things to work towards.

The ladies also try to be involved as much as they can within the community.

“We’re just high focused with community support … just reaching out and connecting with fellow business owners and doing what we can to be a positive influence,” said Wiancko.

So far, feedback from the community has been great.

“They’ve missed having a group fitness facility in the community, so it was good to bring that back for them,” said Varty.
