On Aug. 24, Ponoka business Brittany Jo and Co Wellness, dedicated to a holistic approach to healing, celebrated its one-year anniversary of opening its doors, as well as its recent expansion.
A ribbon cutting ceremony began with a prayer and a land acknowledgement.
Owner Brittany Jo said she was inspired to open the wellness clinic as her own healing journey was a holistic one.
Coun. Cal David brought congratulations from the town and council, saying local businesses are the “lifeblood of what we are,” and seeing a business not only act on a vision, but to see it grow, was “fantastic.”
David himself has a background in health care as a physiotherapist and said he can appreciate holistic methods as not all problems can be solved with prescription medications.
Ponoka and District Chamber of Commerce president Sherry Gummow expressed congratulations on behalf of the board, adding the chamber loves to see businesses open and celebrate anniversaries.
Brittany Jo and Co started with five practitioners and now has 12, and on June 1, it opened a 1,280 square foot expansion.
The existing space offered laser and medical aesthetics, massage, Bowen therapy, Eurowave therapy and Life System.
Now, with the expansion, they’ve added reflexology, manual osteopath therapy, reiki, another masseuse, wellness coaching and a float tank.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by a barbecue.
