Dear Valued 4-H Supporter,

I hope this letter finds you well in light of the current world pandemic; we are certainly in interesting times. As you can imagine, the Covid-19 situation has also impacted our 4-H year. Under direction from 4-H Canada we are unable to participate in any 4-H events or social gatherings; so, we have chosen to move our scheduled district show and sale to an online timed auction sale through the VJV Market on May 11, 2020 starting at 4:00 pm.

4-H members will be completing their year by making a video working with their projects and sharing pictures of their animal that will be a part of the timed auction sale. These videos, pictures and a brief write up will be shown on sale day and be available for viewing for a week prior to the actual sale, giving you, the potential buyer, the ability to learn more about the members and their projects.

We know that we are in uncertain times economically and we understand those difficulties, but our members also need support now more than ever. Our members incur their own financial strains through sourcing out top quality beef genetics and paying a premium for high quality feed to create a strong and viable end product. The members have worked very hard and learned a lot alongside their projects to get them quiet, clean and to a high quality finished product, so it would be nice to see them rewarded for their efforts.

THERE ARE SOME DIFFERENT WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR SALE:

1. If you are looking for good quality meat, this is a great opportunity to support some very hard working and promising youth in our community while stocking your freezers.

2. If you do not need meat, we have another great way for you to contribute to the sale.

a. We are happy to report that we will have a fair floor price secured for this sale. With the floor price option you have the ability to sell the animal back and get a large portion of your money back. So, you can still support our members without spending a lot of money out of pocket.

i. Example A: If you were to buy a finished 4-H steer of 1400lbs for $1.85/lb that would equal $2590, using an example floor price of $1.50/lb that would equal $2100; a difference of $490 which could count as a promotional or marketing expense for your business.

ii. Example B: If you were to buy a finished 4-H steer of $1400lbs for $2.35/lb that would equal $3290, using an example floor price of $1.65/lb that would equal $2310; a difference of $980 which could count as a promotional or marketing expense for your business.

We truly hope you can support the 4-H program this year by attending the sale from your computer screen and purchasing a steer. We would be happy to assist you prior to the sale to get you pre-registered, so come sale day, all you need to do is login and bid.
