It’s time again for the summer white elephant event of the year – the Ponoka and District Chamber of Commerce Downtown Garage Sale.
This big event takes place July 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Chipman Avenue in Ponoka. Peggy Lucas of Ponoka Health Foods says that table merchants and buyers alike can find a wide range of food, goods, and entertainment.
“The Hutterites always have tables by the CIBC bank at the top of the street where they sell their fresh vegetables and things. There are tables with antiques, household goods, lots and lots of crafts, plants, fresh flowers,” says Lucas.
If you get hungry, there will be food. “Bruce at the Coffee Hut will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs, there may be other people with food as well,” says Lucas. This is also the same weekend that the Vintage Bike Rally occurs, see this year’s Italian themed motorcycles on Chipman Avenue during the garage sale.
A clown for the kids, and live entertainment round out the event. Lucas says the day goes on, rain or shine, “I can only remember one time that it rained though.”
The cost is $20 per table and $10 for power. Tables may yet be available so call Ponoka Health Foods to register.
