Camrose resident proud of newest book

80 year-old Camrose resident and retired schoolteacher, Anne Lindgren, is enjoying the success of her fifth publication “Senior Sentiments” - a collection of the creative talents of seniors from coast to coast in Canada.

After having to read the “Free Press Prairie Farmer” out loud to her father on their family farm every week as a child, Anne began to develop a knack for reading and writing and continued to pursue her talents. After having poems published in “Footprints” under the direction and encouragement of her School Yearbook Rep in 1980, Lindgren’s second publication soon followed. In 1990 a group of teachers collected stories from retired Alberta teachers to form “Classroom Classics”. That same year, due to popular demand, “Classroom Classics Too” came out and in 2002, her fourth publication “Where Pansies Bloom” was released. This book sold out quickly but a second edition seemed simple and Lindgren wanted more. She knew many seniors who wrote poetry and stories so decided to get them on the bandwagon for her fifth publication titled “Senior Sentiments” – a book that was formatted, edited and had artwork prepared by one of her daughters, Cyndy Reinboldt.

“This book is really about everything we experience or can relate to at some point in our lives,” said Lindgren. “The pages uncover everything from pain and sadness and happiness and joy to the summer and winter and outdoor plumbing and modern homes. It has over 300 articles on 240 pages from 80 senior contributors from British Columbia to Nova Scotia, but there really is something in here for everyone,” she said. Why did Lindgren choose to bring such a unique collection of work to the public to enjoy?

“There are so many older people who write and never have a way of allowing others to read it,” she said. “This book is a vehicle for them to see and share their writing in print.”

It’s no surprise that readers are already looking forward to a sixth publication.

The book has been available at Camrose’s “Just Books” since November, but for anyone out of the area who would like have a copy, simply call Lindgren 780-672-6804 or mail your request to #302 5210 48A Avenue, Camrose, Alta., T4V 4M4. The price is $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping and handling.
