Staff at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury have come together to give back to Ponoka.

Over the course of the last two weeks in November, staff organized — and pulled off — a food drive, helping to fill the local food bank as part of the “Fill the Food Banks” program. The program is the first event for the Together is Amazing initiative launched by Shaw, Campbell’s Canada and Safeway across Canada.

Receiving strong support from Shaw in Red Deer, staff collected approximately 600 pounds of food during the centre’s first food drive, organized by Halvar Jonson Centre social workers Brenda McGillis and Bev Webster.

The donations will be matched as part of the program by Shaw and Campbell’s Canada, meaning the Ponoka and District Food Bank will receive nearly 1,800 pounds of food.

Donations were boxed and delivered with the help of Shaw.
