The Ponoka and District Chamber of Commerce hosted their general meeting at the Old Iron Horse restaurant on March 18.
The meeting gave a financial report and showed that the Chamber is financially in a good position. The meeting touched on the Annual Trade Fair and its Mardi Gras theme and gave a summation of the events activities.
A membership update was also given and it was stressed that there is always room for new members. The membership is hoped to climb with the new membership committee.
Tammy Milliken workplace education coordinator with the government of Alberta with the Department of Employment, Immigration and Industry was the special guest at the meeting.
Milliken gave information about employment standards and it was well received. Milliken touched on areas such as payment earnings and pay stubs, hiring, conflict resolutions, payment options, holiday pay and more.
The next general meeting will be held at the Old Iron Horse at 1 p.m. on April 15. RSVP is encouraged.
