History and art have met in Crestomere School with the completion of a massive mural that decorates the top of the foyer.

Tim Giles, who also has murals around Lacombe, painted the mural over the summer to help commemorate 50 years of Crestomere School.

The celebration of 50 years was a couple of years ago and Carol Koleyak, one involved with the planning of the mural believes it is a positive artwork to have.

“We wanted to have the history of the school shown in the mural,” said Koleyak. “It’s something for students to think about when they come to school and see it.”

The funds for the mural came from a grant that was received from the school’s cookbook and history book.

Koleyak says that the school continues to work on more projects including framing or restoring graduation pictures, creating a historical scrapbook and hopes to have enough at the end to plant trees.

The mural welcomes everyone into the school and depicts old and new buses, soccer, football, wheelbarrow races, school and more.
