Bill Herman, a US-based trainer, visited Ermineskin Cree Nation last week to conduct seminars on how to deal with stress and non-violent ways of releasing energy to get rid of stress and daily pressures of life.

“Managing stress and managing emotions in healthy ways is one way of giving the young people the idea that they have a choice to what direction their life is headed” said Herman during the first day of the two-day training program at the Ermineskin High School gym.

During the training exercise, participants created, altered and recreated human sculptures by putting their bodies and limbs in a variety of different shapes while adding their facial expressions to the sculpture.

Participants said after the exercise that they had felt the power of expression in particular by reflecting their emotions through their facial posture.
