Fashion-Fir Show with a Christmas theme

The Rotary Club of Ponoka is hosting a festival of Fashion and Firs (a Christmas tree auction) for its annual fashion show.

It will be a night to never Fir-get.

The Rotary Club of Ponoka is hosting a festival of Fashion and Firs (a Christmas tree auction) for its annual fashion show.

Last year, the show was held near Halloween but the club decided to adjust the time to adhere to a Christmas theme. “We decided we wanted a change,” said treasurer Melodie Woods.

This is the fourth year of the fashion show and the proceeds raised are funneled back into the community.

“We’ve done scholarships for students going off to postsecondary . . . Now we want to put some equipment in the Rotary Park. We’re just always looking for ways we can improve the community,” said Woods.

Funds raised by the Rotary Club also go toward leadership camps and a recently installed bully prevention program in Mecca Glen and Crestomere schools.

The fashion show is taking place Nov. 23 at the Kinsmen Community Centre. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner is included, and the show begins at 8 p.m.
