Struggling with anger? Ponoka's FCSS may have the program needed to deal with those times when anger takes control.

If you’re unable to catch the warning signs of intense anger, then Ponoka Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) anger management program may be just the solution.

The association is offering a free anger management program with the help of registered psychologist Marc Roy, of Cirrus Psychology Services.

For Roy, anger is a common emotion that everyone feels, but sometimes for some people at certain times it can become too frequent or intense, “and is hurtful to those around them, and can negatively affect their health.”

“Anger is influenced by thoughts and beliefs that people have about themselves and the world around them,” Roy added. “By examining and challenging these ideas, as well as learning techniques to moderate quick tempers, anger responses can be improved.”

The program is an eight week course and is aimed at helping those who cannot find ways to manage their anger. Roy said about four to six participants are needed to hold the weekly group sessions.
