Food Bank collection involves town

The Ponoka Youth Centre Guy’s Night and Go Girls youth will be knocking on doors in efforts to collect food for the Ponoka Food Bank on Oct. 2.

The Ponoka Youth Centre Guy’s Night and Go Girls youth will be knocking on doors in efforts to collect food for the Ponoka Food Bank on Oct. 2.

Jerel Peters, an organizer of the event, believes that the food collection will be beneficial to all.

“These programs are life skills events for youth,” said Peters. “We collect food in support of the Ponoka Food Bank, while teaching our youth the importance of service and giving back to the community.”

Youth will be heading out into the community from 4 to 7 p.m. Members of the community can also drop off food at the youth centre between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 2.

Peters feels that the event is important to have in Ponoka and encourages everyone to fill up the organization with food.

“The Ponoka Food Bank meets a significant need in our community,” he said.
