Glad to be back writing after a long and relaxing spring break

It just seems like we started this year and we are already heading into grad, open house and registration processes for next year. Certainly an exciting time at Ponoka Composite High School.

It just seems like we started this year and we are already heading into grad, open house and registration processes for next year. Certainly an exciting time at Ponoka Composite High School.

I want to take this opportunity to invite you to come in and have a look around at our school on any occasion. One thing you will notice first off is the brand new entranceway, which is highlighted by a raised panel oak wall that has been constructed by members of Mr. Unruh’ s Construction 10 class. New benches will soon enter the spaces for students to enjoy relaxing and visiting with friends. Down the halls you will also notice student work appearing....from incredible art work under the guidance of Mrs. McKelvie to samples of written work and projects that are done by our students on a regular basis. Seeing what students can do when they are dedicated is truly amazing. I marvel every day at the quality of craftsmanship, art and academic work that students can achieve.

At our open house on Thursday of last week, we had many parents indicate that they loved the look of the school and commented on the positive atmosphere created when someone walks in. Our school, while certainly in need of some serious infrastructure upgrading, should always look its best. I want to thank our staff and students for showing their dedication to PCHS. In the future, we can look to new computer upgrades in October and upgrading of CTS equipment into the coming year.

Why is all this so important? Celebrating student success breeds student success. When students see an example of what great work looks like they strive to do better in their work and studies. A school should say something about the environment it wants to create. A warm friendly environment that centers on students creates pride and success in a school. I am extremely proud of our school and the students who make Ponoka Composite the best place to learn.
