Women in Ponoka have the chance to witness a transformation at the Great Makeover Reveal, hosted by Word of Life Church on July 26 at the Kinsmen Community Centre. Those who attend will be given the opportunity to get together for a night out to learn about fashion and shopping as well as seeing the winner of the makeover.

The winner has been chosen after videos were submitted by women contending for the chance to get a full makeover.

The videos were reviewed by a panel of six judges who decided she needed a change and some excitement in life.

The criteria for the judging of the makeover candidates was how eager the person was, if there was the ability to dramatically change her appearance and if she inspired the judges to give her a makeover.

The winner of the makeover will be revealed at the event.

Shannon McArthur, event organizer, believes that the night is a great opportunity for women to go out and meet others in the community and see what the season has to offer.

“We want women to come out for an evening of fun and a chance to get to know each other while learning about some fashion trends for late summer early fall,” said McArthur. “It’s to celebrate with the makeover winner and learn tips for improving self-image on the inside and on the outside.”

In addition to the makeover there will be a fashion show, video presentations, door prizes, dessert and more. There will also be retail therapy and local businesses will be setting up booths in the hall.

There are approximately 13 models for the fashion show that will be displaying the new and trendy styles of the season from local retailers.

“We have had a great response from the local retail businesses for our fashion show and with people doing hair and make-up for it,” said McArthur. “There will also be home-based businesses setting up tables for people to do some shopping.”

There will be some tickets available at the door but to secure a spot McArthur encourages people to get their tickets now, door open at 6:30 p.m.
