Five candidates have stepped up to run for the Lacombe-Ponoka seat in the Legislature in Edmonton.

In the next few weeks you may see these candidates out shaking hands and kissing babies. The candidates for this riding are: Progressive Conservative and incumbent Ray Prins, New Democratic Steve Bradshaw, Joe Anglin from the Green Party, Alberta Liberal Edith McPhedran and Daniel Freisen from the Wildrose Alliance Party.

In this week and next week’s Ponoka News we will be profiling the candidates, this week we take a look at Anglin from Rimbey and Freisen from Bashaw. Next week will be taking a closer look at Prins, Bradshaw and McPhedran.

Albertans will head to the polls on March 3 after Premier Ed Stelmach called an election on Feb. 4.

The Ponoka and District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a political forum for the candidates on Feb. 20 at the Kinsmen Recreation centre starting at 7 p.m. The forum will be a chance for the public to pose questions to the candidates and listen to what they have to say.
