Last call to sign up for BBBS Bowl-A-Thon

Get your bowling shoes ready because on Friday, April 17 the annual Ponoka Big Brothers and Big Sisters fundraiser, the bowl for kids sake bowl-a-thon, will be taking place at Leisure Lanes bowling alley.

Bowl for kids sake is one of Ponoka Big Brother Big Sisters largest fundraisers of the year. It’s open to any community member, service club, business or group who would like to have loads of fun while raising money for a great cause.

To register a team, which must consist of 4-6 people, phone Ponoka Big Brothers Big Sisters at 403-783-3112 or stop in from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Once registered, each team member will receive a pledge book used to collect donations on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters. There will be three to four draws taking place per hour giving away gift packages for guys and girls from local businesses plus family passes to Rabbit Hill Snow Resort, eight tickets to the Ponoka Stampede, 18 holes of golf for four, and the grand prize - a round trip for four between Edmonton and Jasper on VIA Rail. There will also be an array of great food made possible by local businesses as well and impressive decorations to go along with the theme for the event which is “down on the farm.” Dressing for the part, whether it be a pair of overalls and boots or your own creation, is encouraged as there are prizes being awarded for the best costumes as well.

There are currently 42 teams registered to participate and there is still room for 15 more. If you are unable to attend the event but would still like to donate, advertising opportunities are available. Corporate signage will be on display throughout the entire event.

Proceeds will be used to fund the valuable mentoring programs Ponoka Big Brothers and Big Sisters proudly offer the youth of our community.
