Legion garage sale

The Ponoka branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is preparing for its 10th annual version

The Ponoka branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is preparing for its 10th annual version of “Alberta’s Largest Indoor Garage Sale” by helping people with their spring cleaning.

The Legion is approaching its members and friends in the community and surrounding area to donate good, usable surplus items from their storage areas for sale at the event Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donated items could include furniture, kitchen utensils, toys, glassware, tools, sports equipment, home decorations, curiosities and surprises.

“The success of the event depends on the contributions from the community,” said event organizer Dave MacPherson. “There is room for further donations. Proceeds from the sales in the past have helped with funding community projects, youth programs, medical equipment purchases, and sports and seniors programs.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Ponoka Legion Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pick up can be scheduled by calling 403-783-4076.

“We hope that Ponoka and area will once again help us to help the community,” MacPherson said.
