One person’s junk is another person’s treasure

The Royal Canadian Legion hosted its annual garage and bake sale on April 30. The event that relied on donations from the community raised almost $6,000.

Stan Orlesky, president of the Ponoka legion said half of the money raised would be donated to the community splash park and that the legion was more than happy to help.

“We support the seniors and youth in town and are proud to partner with other groups like the Lions and Kinsmen to help out,” said Orlesky. “We’re a small community and we all have to work together. It wouldn’t be possible without the generous donations from everyone.”

The legion is hosting an open house on May 7 between 1-4 p.m. and invites the general public to pop by and see what the group is all about. The afternoon will feature activities including crib, darts and poker and there will be a BBQ raffled off at the end of it.
