The highly anticipated Alberta Barrel Racing Finals (ABRA) is rolling into town this week.

The action runs for five full days and kicks off Wednesday, Aug. 22, in the morning running straight through until the finals on Sunday, Aug. 26.

With over 1,000 competitors, the ABRA Finals is the largest event that will take place at the Calnash Ag Event centre this year. Barrel racers from around the province will be here competing for over $345,000 in cash and prizes.

This event has grown into the largest of it’s kind across Canada and is ranked within the top five throughout North America.

With prize money and awards growing each year, the ABRA Finals are a sought after event by riders of all ages. The format in which the finals is ran offers tremendous opportunity for out contests to walk away with cash/prizes in many different divisions.

Not only will we see top competitions runs this week, the show is also home to a sought after trade show. The building will be full all week with a variety of over 50 vendors. Furniture, home decor, boutique clothing, skin/health care, jewelry, tack and equine, and so much more will be found at the Calnash Ag Event Centre all week long.

The ABRA appreciates the town of Ponoka welcoming them for their finals and is especially appreciative of the local support it has received over the years. As the ABRA Finals has grown, so has the sponsors involvement.

There is no admission and the ABRA invites everyone to come out and enjoy the action and shopping this week.
