Remembering Mayerthorpe: An initiative by the Ponoka Scouts is intended to remember Mayerthorpe, where four RCMP members were killed on March 3, 2005. The scouts invited the Ponoka RCMP members, the Ponoka Fire Department and Ponoka Victim Services to attend the small ceremony held outside the RCMP detachment on March 4. The goal is to host this ceremony every year, explained Scout leader Maurice Mazurat. Here members from the different groups pose in front of the memorial.
