Remember When?
This remarkable panorama of our early Town of Ponoka landscapes features the long 1910 view of Railway Street from north to south as well as Chipman Avenue. Centered by the majestic Royal Hotel the photo vividly illustrates the diversity of the buildings, which ranged from shops to banks and equipment dealerships, as well as residences that included backyard barns and wandering livestock. Top photo was a splendid 1996 shot taken from the east across the Battle River and showing ‘Elevator row’ in all it’s glory.
