Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) held a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two Spirit event at their division office in Ponoka on May 5.
There was a short program with some guest speakers, as well as a Red Dress photography display, followed by an awareness walk from the office to the Ponoka Secondary Campus and back.
Student groups were invited to attend the event, spend some time viewing the gallery, to join in the walk, and then enjoy bannock and tea at the division office.
Elders, drummers, division office leadership, along with students and staff from Ponoka Elementary School, Ponoka Secondary Campus and The BRICK Learning Centre gathered to pay tribute, to advocate and to remember.
“Wolf Creek Public Schools is honoured to walk alongside elders, students and community in reconciliation,” reads a statement from WCPS.
