The largest fundraiser for Ponoka Christian School went well with the school halls filled with family and friends to support the endeavour.
Held April 7, the event features a live and silent auction with proceeds to help the school’s operations, explained Hendrik DeGier, school board chairperson.
The money goes into a general fund. “Then we see how much we raise and then we allocate it to some building improvements here and there,” said DeGier.
One thing’s for sure, without the fundraiser, the school’s operations would need money to come from a different source. It’s a valuable tool to ensure operations continue. If the event brings in more funds than planned for, the school may use the money for program enhancement or to help improve the building.
Another fun part of the fundraiser is the community building that comes with it, says DeGier, with parents, friends and family enjoying the day. “My kids were super excited. They couldn’t wait for Saturday.”
There’s about 115 students who attend Ponoka Christian School.
