Ponoka Hospital Ladies Auxiliary beautifies long-term care patio

Volunteers from the Ponoka Hospital Ladies Auxiliary have spent numerous hours beautifying the long-term care (LTC) patio at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre. This is one of many ways the 50 auxiliary members fulfill their mandate of “patient comfort and care.”

The LTC patio is an ongoing project that we have done over the years. This year, with a budget of $1,000, the auxiliary upgraded the perimeter of the patio with gravel and river rock.

Four beautiful new raised planters adorn the landscape and can be accessed and enjoyed by those in wheelchairs. A glass wall adjoins the patio to the LTC unit enabling the residents to enjoy the beautiful hanging baskets, planters, flowering splendour from early morning to evening.

The smiles brought to their faces tells u s how much they appreciate our efforts and reminds us of why we do what we do.

Several husbands assisted with the project. A small garden utility shed for storage of flower pots, baskets, and tools would complete our project for years to come.
