Chipman Avenue

$1.49 day on Chipman Avenue? Not really — this classic 1920s photo shows a busy day along good old Chipman Avenue in Ponoka. It is quite obvious that ‘angle parking’ was in effect in those days when there were no parking meters.

You really have to feel sorry for that poor fellow who is trying to pull his team up to the hitching rail in front of the Leland Hotel, but in that era horses had become outnumbered by those noisy new metal machines.
