Remember When: Antique fire extinguisher on display at Ponoka Museum

The Fort Ostell Museum is hosting its display of this antique fire extinguisher

Remember When? When the Provincial Mental Hospital was opened in 1912 it was several of these massive and very heavy extinguishers that were pushed or pulled around the grounds or buildings to battle sudden fires. This amazing and historical apparatus now has a permanent home at the front entrance of the Fort Ostell Museum, and is a fitting salute in honour of the memories and efforts of the hundreds of dedicated members of both the PMH and the Town of Ponoka volunteer fire departments for over a century.
