Remember When? Now that we are in the midst of another exciting Ponoka Minor Hockey season, and it’s always great to turn back the clock and feature some of our teams of days gone by. Shown here is the 1965 Ponoka Stampeder Bantam team, and featured in the back row from left to right are: Stan Weir, Murray Tofsrud, Lee Whitford, Ev Simanton, Keith Stickney, Don Hart, and unknown, and then up front is: Coach Jim Smith, Stan Hinkley, Jeff Ablett, Terry Johnston, Doug Lear, John Massing, Marcel Comeau, and Jim McCrimmon, kneeling is Doug MacLeod. Thanks to Tom Webber and Dunc Grant Jr. for helping identify this old photo, and if you have an early team photo please pop into the Ponoka News, get in scanned, and we can use it here, just to share the great memories of fun on ice.
