Remember When? This amazing photo taken in 1889 shows members of the Cree Nation gathered at a camp. Please note the straw headgear worn by the men, while between the teepees is meat hanging to dry and smoke over a slow fire. Later the various First Nations tribes looked forward to setting up the camp in the Battle River Valley near Ponoka, where they could purchase and trade goods with the local merchants as well as perform and share their traditional and very colourful dances and customs.
